Here's a couple of oddballs, a pint size Mason's keystone 1858 ground top jar in dare I call it teal color? I know color is subjective but either this thing is teal or old aqua color to my eye. In any event, it is damage free with some nice crudity. Also I'm on a limb calling it a ground top as it appears they spent 2 seconds if that grinding the rough top down. If that weren't enough, the ma in Mason's is in noticeably smaller letters than the SON'S, making it read more like "ma SONS"! I tried to get decent pics of all of this, some better than others. The lettering is also rather crude looking leading me to believe this is one of the earlier keystone jars. Lid is an unmarked, well fitting one from my pile of extra lids. Some interior haze that could use a minor tumble. Found under the crawl space of a house from the 1860's. I could find no match to it in the Red Book that described all the differences from the standard #1787 1858 jars. The clear guy was recently rescued from an early 1900's dump and embossed "Armour Packing Co. Kansas City USA." It looks to be a half pint, lightning style seal and only listing in Red Book is 93-5 and described "Armour & Company Chicago" with a ground top lightning style seal and is a clear quart, which this is clearly not. This is smooth lip and appears to be an early off center semi-automatic machine made jar. Does have a couple chips to the edge of the seal band shoulder. Could be a rare unlisted? It has become time for me to thin out my collection and none of these listed today have ever been on the market before, having been dug by me and in my possession.
