  • Condition: Nice clean tumbled condition with no cracks, nicks, or issues. Ground mouth is smooth with only a few minor chips. Jar has been tumbled removing the clouds and haze as well as almost all the surface wear and scratches.The embossing is faint but still readable. Needs the glass lid and wire bail to complete this rare jar !!!

    Description

    Up for sale is a super nice and clean Antique fruit jar only with no  glass lid and no wire bail and is embossed with the usual weak lettering on the side and base as indicated: small arched lettering ~ Trade Mark / large horizontal lettering ~ THE DANDY // base ~ GILBERDS / mold# ~16. This outstanding 1885 era blown in the mold clear jar is in original excellent condition with absolutely no cracks,nicks,or dings as well as almost no interior clouds or haze. The ground mouth is smooth with only one minor surface chip. The glass itself is very clean with just a few scattered surface blemishes or scratches. The main issue is the weak embossing but is typically found in this rare bottle. This quality jar was made by the Finlay Bottling Company, Finlay,Ohio. It measures approximately 8in. in height and 3 1/2 in. in width across the diameter of the base.
