Description
This customer-requested control plate gives your Tele with a humbucker in the neck position two extra usable tones. In addition to the regular three options of neck only, neck and bridge and bridge only, you get the neck with highs rolled off (jazz tone) and a "half out of phase" position with a distinctive Strat sound. This is just like my Bill Lawrence 5-way control plate, except with modifications to accommodate the humbucker.
A Soviet Mil. Spec .047MFD PIO tone cap gives you the best possible tone in all positions, while a .01MFD Soviet Military PIO cap reduces the highs in position 5 (please note, Orange Drop is shown in photo. I have switched to the PIO caps in all future builds!) Gavitt cloth-covered push back wire, CTS or Bourns pots, an Oak-Grigsby 5-way switch, Allen-Bradley resistor, Switchcraft jack and silver solder used throughout provide superior sonic quality that far surpasses your stock electronics. You will hear the difference in all five positions!
Soldering in your pickups is made easy by leaving some space on each connection point. I have added just a speck of solder to the lugs so all you have to do is place your lead into the lug and seal it with another drop of solder A wiring diagram will be included, and I'm always here to help in case of any questions during installation.
