Rare Chromed Steel Radiator Bed designed by Stanley Jay Friedman for Brueton. Brueton was one of the first American companies to introduce Stainless Steel into the manufacturing of furniture. And did they set the standard high. Not since the automobiles of the forties and fifties have you seen chrome like this. Quite a statement. Evidently, Kelly Wearstler used this bed in a recent interior design project to much acclaim.
This is the full size version. The sub frame is sized for a full mattress. The sub frame is on casters making it convenient to roll around on your travertine, terrazzo, or stained concrete floor. It also gives the appearance of slightly hovering above the ground. The head and foot “board” are removable and slip into position on both ends. They appear to be sporting a period correct African inspired cotton poplin fabric, with matching slip covers. While in fine usable condition, the ability to remove them separately from the bed frame offers an excellent opportunity to customize them with your own choice of upholstery.
    The entire frame measures 58” wide x 93” long x 10” high.
Excellent condition. One very small dent as shown.
An exceedingly scarce, 100% Glam, made in USA classic piece of modern designer furniture.
